Andrew Lourake Remains Unstoppable
Air Force pilot, Andrew Lourake hit a huge bump in the road when the decision was made to
amputate his leg after an infection caused by surgery. Instead of letting it destroy his career, he worked hard to master advanced physical requirements on his new prosthetic leg. This enabled him to return to service making him the first Air Force pilot with an above-knee amputation to return to active duty. Starting off on a C-Leg, he was eventually able to move on to an amazing waterproof microprocessor knee called the X3. It only gets better. Not only does he jet through lakes, but he also works at the Veterans Air Command (VAC). The VAC is an incredible organization that provides free air transportation to post 9/11 combat wounded and their families for medical and other compassionate purposes through a national network of volunteer aircraft owners and pilots. There is no limit to Andrew Lourake’s drive to overcome everything life has to throw at him.
